M-I SWACO Brand Collateral
M-I SWACO Assorted Collateral
Description: Assorted collateral for M-I SWACO — manufacturer of drilling fluid systems and products, and related services, for the Oil & Gas industry.
Objective: Maintain brand standards (visual and messaging) consistently across multiple print and digital applications.
Responsibilities: Ranged from art direction to production.
Employer: M-I SWACO (Schlumberger) | Houston, TX
Product Catalog (84 pages)
Description: Product catalog of drilling products for use in O&G industry applications.
Objective: Update content, refresh the overall design, and improve overall flow/use.
Comments: Before I joined the marketing team, the catalogs were being sent overseas to a very expensive agency. I saved M-I SWACO a considerable amount of money, produced the catalogs in a fraction of the amount of time, and improved the overall quality of the catalogs.
Responsibilities: Graphic design. Collaborate with senior art director, product managers and engineers over design and content/data. Produce final artwork and supervise printing.
Software: Adobe Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop
Product Catalog (continued)
The usability of the catalogs greatly improved by removing redundant content. Previous versions were basically M-I SWACO brochures stitched together and contained a great deal of info the end-user didn’t need. Info and graphics were then reorganized in order of importance.
Interactive Catalog
Description: Product catalog converted to digital form for use on tablets, phones, and laptops by the sales team and consumers.
Objective: Convert product catalogs to digital form so more content can be added — ex: interactive 3D renderings and videos. Fewer catalogs for the sales team to lug around. Save trees.
Responsibilities: Graphic design, UI design. Work with art director and production team over design/function. Produce files and assist in supervising production.
Software: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign
Trade Show Booth Graphics
Description: Standard booth design/graphics for one of many trade shows M-I SWACO participates in during a year.
Comments: Many of our booths were printed and assembled overseas. Dealing with time differences and the language barrier made meeting deadlines a little tricky at times.
Responsibilities: Production. Work with senior art director over design and event coordinator over specs/dimensions. Produce pieces and supervise printing.
Software: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign
Facility Grand Opening Graphics
Description: E-blast header and brochure
Objective: Create a cost-efficient, easily assembled, bilingual brochure to be printed overseas. And e-blast headers to accompany it.
Comments: The brochure is double-sided for cost efficiency and convenience — English on one side Norwegian on the other.
Responsibilities: Art direction, production. Work with client over content and design.
Software: Adobe Photoshop, Indesign
Facility Grand Opening Graphics (continued)
Description: Die-cut invitation
Objective: Create a unique, memorable invitation.
Comments: This was the option A invitation. But due to time restraints and cost it was not produced. The shipping costs to Norway alone blew the budget. The client opted to send an e-blast in its place and use the design for future grand openings.
Responsibilities: Art direction, illustration, production. Work with client over content and design.
Software: Adobe Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator
